Moving money out of Russia in 2026: routes that actually work
If you have savings in rubles and a life happening somewhere else, you have probably already discovered that the obvious routes are closed. Bank SWIFT transfers bounce or hang for weeks, foreign accounts are hard to open remotely, and cards issued in Russia don’t work abroad. Here is what actually works in 2026 — honestly, including the trade-offs.
What mostly doesn’t work
- Direct SWIFT from a Russian bank. A handful of banks still send in limited currencies to limited destinations; transfers crawl, get returned, or get stuck in compliance for weeks. Even when it works once, it’s not repeatable.
- Russian cards abroad. Not accepted. Cards from “friendly” third countries get closed regularly and take a trip to open.
- Carrying large cash through borders. Legal only up to declared limits, and moving serious amounts this way is risky and slow.
The route that works: rubles → USDT → what you need
Stablecoins are the practical bridge. The full chain looks like this:
- Rubles into USDT. You buy USDT for rubles — through an exchange or P2P, from your own account.
- USDT to us. We agree the full rate in advance — one number covering the entire chain, so you know exactly what you receive at the other end.
- USDT into euros, dollars, or lira. Cash in person in Barcelona or Antalya, or a bank transfer where a meeting isn’t practical.
The key detail: the rate is confirmed and locked in advance — you know the full number before you commit. How the settlement itself runs is agreed in chat, case by case.
If the money needs to pay for something specific
When the goal isn’t cash but a payment — property, a car, tuition — skip the cash step entirely. We settle the invoice company-to-company and you fund it in the form that works for you, including starting from rubles. The recipient gets a clean EU bank transfer with documents.
What to watch out for
- “Great rates” with no total. Any honest quote is one all-in number. If fees appear after you commit, you’re being played.
- Meeting strangers from chat groups with cash. Use a counterparty that stays reachable tomorrow — the same people, the same two cities, the same account year-round.
- Skipping documents. For larger amounts, a paper trail protects you: origin of funds, confirmation of exchange. We may ask for ID — that’s a feature, not friction.
Where to start
Message us with the amount and the direction — for example, “2 million rubles, need euros in Barcelona.” You’ll get one confirmed number and a plan. Read next: turning USDT into euros in Barcelona or getting cash in Antalya.
